
Family Visas
There is a range of family visas available for people to come to Australia to join their Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen family members. Options available include Parent visas and a Carer visa for people to assist a relative who requires care. There are Child, Orphan Relative, and Adoption visas. Other family-related visas include the Remaining Relative visa for people who have no close relatives except those living in Australia, and the Aged Dependent Relative visa for older people who are dependent on a person living in Australia for their necessities

Child Visas
Subclasses 101, 802, 445
The visa Subclasses 101, 802 and 445 allow children to live in Australia with their parents.
You must be a dependent child of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen. Your parent or your parent’s partner must sponsor you. In most cases, you must be under 18 years of age or under 25 years of age and financially dependent on your parent. You must be single.
With visa Subclasses 101, 802 and 445, you can stay in Australia with your parent. The Subclass 101 and 802 visas allow you to remain permanently in Australia. The Subclass 445 visa allows you to stay temporarily, but leads to a permanent visa if your parent’s permanent Partner visa is approved

Adoption Visa
Subclass 102
The Subclass 102 visa allows children adopted from outside Australia to live with a parent / s in Australia.
You must have been adopted by an Australian citizen, an eligible New Zealand citizen or an Australian permanent resident. Your adoption must have been one of the following: adoption took place under an intercountry adoption arrangement or involved an Australian central state or territory authority, adoption took place under the Hague Adoption Convention or a bilateral agreement, or you were adopted by an expatriate who resided overseas for more than 12 months before the adoption took place.
With the Subclass 102 visa, you can stay in Australia permanently with your adoptive parent / s. You will have full work rights and be eligible for Medicare in Australia

Orphan Relative Visas
Subclasses 117 and 837
The Subclass 117 and 837 visas allow children whose parents are deceased, can’t care for them or can’t be found to live with a relative in Australia.
You must be under 18 years of age. You must have no parent to care for you and an eligible relative in Australia who is willing to care for you.
With visa Subclasses 117 and 837, you can stay in Australia permanently with your relative. You will have full work rights and be eligible for Medicare in Australia

Parent and Carer Visas
Parent Visas
Subclasses 804, 884, 864, 173, 143, 103, 870
The visa Subclasses 804, 864, and 884 allow parents of Australian citizens, permanent residents or eligible New Zealand citizens who are old enough to receive the age pension and who are in Australia to stay in Australia.
You must be the parent of a child who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen and sponsored by your child in most cases. You must be the required age to receive the Australian age pension. This age is 65 or 67 years, depending on your date of birth. Most or an equal number of your children must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents who are usually resident in Australia, or eligible New Zealand citizens who are usually resident in Australia. For a permanent visa, you will need a financial assurance of support.
With visa Subclasses 804 and 864, you can stay in Australia permanently.
With the Subclass 884 visa, you can stay in Australia for up to 2 years.
The visa Subclasses 103, 173, and 143 allow parents of Australian citizens, permanent residents or eligible New Zealand citizens to stay in Australia.
You must be the parent of a child who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen and sponsored by your child in most cases. Most or an equal number of your children must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents who are usually resident in Australia, or eligible New Zealand citizens who are usually resident in Australia. For a permanent visa, you will need a financial assurance of support.
With visa Subclasses 103 and 143, you can stay in Australia permanently.
With the Subclass 173 visa, you can stay in Australia for up to 2 years.
The Subclass 870 visa enables parents of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens to reside in Australia temporarily.
You must be the parent or stepparent of an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen, and sponsored. You must genuinely intend to remain in Australia temporarily and have sufficient funds for your stay.
With the Subclass 870 visa, you can stay in Australia for a period of 3 or 5 years

Carer Visas
Subclasses 836 and 116
The Subclass 836 and 116 visas enable people to live in Australia to care for an Australian relative with a long-term medical condition who is unable to access suitable care options.
You must be sponsored by your relative or their partner. You must be willing to provide care for your relative or their family member who resides with them.
With visa Subclasses 836 and 116, you can stay permanently in Australia

Subclasses 115 and 835
The Subclass 115 and 835 visas enable people who do not have any close relatives, except Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens, to live in Australia.
You must have a relative who is a parent, sibling or stepsibling and lives in Australia. You must be sponsored by a relative or a relative’s spouse. You and your partner must not have a parent, sibling, or stepsibling who lives outside Australia. You will need a financial assurance of support.
With visa Subclasses 115 and 835, you can stay permanently in Australia

Aged Dependent Relative Visas
Subclasses 114 and 838
The Subclass 114 and 838 visas are for people who do not have a partner and are reliant on an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen for their basic needs, and are old enough to receive the age pension.
You must be single. You must have relied on your relative for your basic needs, such as food, shelter, and clothing, for the last 3 years. You must be old enough to receive the Australian age pension. This age is 65 or 67 years, depending on your date of birth. You will need a financial assurance of support.
With visa Subclasses 114 and 838, you can stay permanently in Australia
