
Student & Training Visas
Student visas are for people who wish to come to Australia to undertake an approved course of study. These temporary visas allow people to come to Australia for educational purposes. In some cases, a guardian can accompany the student. There is also a Training Visa available for people to undertake occupational training in Australia. The options available include the Student Visa Subclass 500, the Student Guardian Visa Subclass 590 and the Training Visa Subclass 407
Student Visa
Subclass 500
The Subclass 500 visa is for people who are enrolled in a course of study in Australia.
You must have evidence of your intended course of study. You must have sufficient funds for your stay. You must be a genuine student. If you are under 18 years of age, you will need evidence of arrangements for accommodation and general welfare. You may be required to pass an English test.
With the Subclass 500 visa, you can remain in Australia for the period of your course of study and work up to 48 hours per fortnight

Student Guardian Visa
Subclass 590
The Subclass 590 visa is for people to support a child in Australia who is enrolled in a course of study and holds a Student visa.
You must be nominated by a student and provide accommodation and support for the student. Typically, the student must be under 18 years of age, and you must be the student’s parent or relative. You must be at least 21 years of age. You must have sufficient funds for your stay. You and the nominating student must genuinely intend to reside together. Only one Student Guardian 590 visa is permitted per student.
With the Subclass 590 visa, you can reside in Australia to provide support for a Student visa holder for the period of their study or until they turn 18, in most cases. You will not be permitted to work

Training Visa
Subclass 407
The Subclass 407 visa is for people to undertake workplace training in Australia.
You must be sponsored. Unless a Commonwealth Government agency is sponsoring you, your sponsor will need to nominate a training program for you. You must genuinely intend to stay temporarily in Australia for occupational training.
With the Subclass 407 visa, you can undertake workplace-based occupational training in Australia. You can remain in Australia for a training period of up to 2 years. You cannot work outside of your occupational training program
